Our Family Home is Your Vacation Home
The Longfellow Guest House has been a family home for over 157 years. Amazingly, it has remained in our family over that three century span .
Cape May Was Our Family Vacation Spot Growing Up
As kids we vacationed with family and friends getting into all kinds of creative trouble and generally enjoying Cape May's special pleasures. They were fond, wonderful memories that we have carried into adulthood. The house is set up to preserve that same environment for our guests so that they too may create new wonderful memories with their family and friends. When we decided to rent the Longfellow House to other families, we wanted to keep that special home feel and it's historic connection that is such a part of Cape May's uniqueness. So rather than convert everything to a low maintenance rental, which would have been much easier, we preserved much of what makes the house unique and special.
Our Family history is part of Cape May's History
Walk through our home's hallways and you'll see family images & artifacts that connect our history from the mid 1800s to today. Look up and down the block and around town and you'll get a special sense of our house, Hughes Street, the Victorian District and Cape May itself. What better way to enjoy your Cape May's unique heritage than by spending your vacation in a historic home with your family and friends? Contact us if you have a question.
Throughout our home we feature original paintings from guests and friends. They capture the details that make our house unique, like our front porch. This was painted by the talented Sue Petticord. Her works appear throughout our home.
